Ali Sonnier
Multidisciplinary Artist
Ali Sonnier is a multidisciplinary artist from New Iberia, Louisiana, in the heart of the Acadiana region. They are currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in printmaking at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Sonnier primarily works in traditional printmaking processes—woodcut, intaglio, lithography, and linoleum block printing—while also exploring digital art, photography, and painting.
Their current work is deeply narrative, often drawing from personal experiences of trauma, healing, and mental health. Originally a psychology major, Sonnier brings a psychological lens to their art, using visual storytelling to explore themes of pain, survival, and emotional resilience. Much of their work is influenced by playful surrealism and reflects an interest in the subconscious, inner worlds, and symbolic transformation. Sonnier strives to show the beauty in struggle and the pride that comes from endurance, creating works that invite connection through shared human experience.
